RTMC EXPO COMPLETE INFORMATION

RTMC EXPO Information Click here for maps and directions Click here for a downloadable summary of rules and other information Arrival Time The conference grounds will open no sooner than noon on Thursday. The safety plan requires RTMC AE monitors to assure that cars are parked to the side of the road and access is clear. The starting point will be moved forward as to allow everyone to park along the side of the road inside the entrance of Camp Oakes. No one is allowed to park on the side of the road outside the gates of Camp Oakes and into the adjoining neighborhood streets. Everyone arriving early will be accommodated inside the Camp property according to arrival time. If you arrive early, be prepared to camp overnight along the entrance road. RTMC EXPO REGISTRATION

Registration This year’s dates are Thursday, September 19th – Sunday, September 22nd, 2019 Pre-registration is available before August 31st, 2019. After August 31st you may register on-site at premium prices. You may register using a printed registration form and mailing in a check or online with Paypal. If your question is not answered below, contact [email protected] Online registration is now closed. You may pay at the gate when you arrive (cash or check only). Weekend rate is $50, Day rate is $30. Dorms are $20. Students, with ID, rates are Weekend $25, Day $15, Dorms are $20. Kids (0-17) in FREE with paying adult. Imaging workshop on Sunday is $50. Commercial Exhibitors, Vendors, and Clubs Commercial Exhibitors, Vendors, and Clubs Vendors include any businesses, clubs, organizations, or individuals, who wish to set up a booth or tent at the event with items for sale. Clubs not selling merchandise of any kind (selling memberships is ok) may have a free vendor space. Online registration is now closed. Any vendors wishing to attend RTMC may pay at the gate (cash or check only). Regular booth is $75, must furnish own EZ-up, tables, chairs. Regular booth includes admission for up to 2 people. Anyone else attending must pay for separate admission. Club booths (not selling any merchandise) can have a free 10×10 booth space. Must furnish own EZ-up, tables chairs. Maps and Directions to RTMC San Bernardino Vicinity Map Victorville Vicinity Map Aerial View of Camp Oakes Directions From the west Exit Interstate 10 at State Route 38 in Redlands (also called Orange St., labeled #1 on the map). Turn left onto Orange Street and go north 0.5 mile to Lugonia Avenue, which is marked as the continuation of State Route 38. Turn right onto Lugonia Avenue and go east 43 miles on State Route 38, past Angelus Oaks, Barton Flats, and Onyx Summit to Lake Williams Drive. Lake Williams Drive is about five miles northwest of Onyx Summit and located between mileposts 44 and 45 on State Route 38. Camp Oakes

Camp Oakes has other attractions as well. Everyone may enjoy the pool, lake canoes, archery, mountain biking (your own bike), wall climbing, and catch and release fishing. May 26-30, 2016 (Thursday through Monday morning) Camp Oakes Big Bear City, California Main Telescope Field at the RTMC Astronomy Expo The Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC) was founded in 1969 by Clifford W. Holmes for amateur telescope makers to share their craft. In 1975, the RTMC moved to its current home at Camp Oakes, a YMCA camp near Big Bear City. In 2000, the official name of the conference was changed to the “RTMC Astronomy Expo.” Located 50 miles northeast of Riverside in the San Bernardino mountains, the site offers space for camping, several dormitories and 18 three-sided shelters, a meeting/dining hall, and the Charles Walker Observatory.
